A Journey of Legend

Loving is Caring

Review and Outlook

UAC continues to care for the elderly in nursing homes and long-term care facilities, most vulnerable and emotionally impacted by the COVID-19 epidemic. On Easter in April 2021, UAC will send love bags with holiday greetings to the elderly and their caretakers of the Bedford Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Brooklyn, New York. UAC plans to deliver 200 love bags to the elderly in this nursing home and another 200 to their caretakers. Please support us or join our actions.

UAC started the “Loving is Caring” for the elderly initiative in September 2020. At that time, UAC was concerned that nursing homes and long-term care centers had become the hardest-hit areas of the COVID epidemic. After the outbreak, the elderly under strict lockdown were suffering from loneliness. Therefore, UAC stepped in to convey love and warmth to the seniors with carefully selected love bags and hand-painted greeting cards by the children.

Our first campaign to recruit young painters to draw love cards had a strong turnout. We have received 384 thank-you cards and love cards from families in New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey. Those naive but therapeutic paintings conveyed children’s care and sympathy for the elderly and encouraged them to be strong. After that, many volunteers, especially young ones, have enthusiastically participated in writing love cards and making love bags. Students from China have written letters for the elderly under the guidance of their teachers.

Between September 5th and 17th, 2020, UAC sent 350 love bags to the Cabrini Nursing Home in Westchester County, New York. On November 26, 2020, the Thanksgiving day, UAC sent 205 love bags to Sprain Brook Manor Nursing Home in Westchester County, New York. By December 24, 2020, UAC sent 425 love bags with holiday blessings to the Cliffside Rehabilitation & Residential Health Care Center in New York City. On February 12, 2021, UAC delivered 50 love bags to the elderly in Westchester County, New York. On February 15, UAC delivered 150 love bags to the Golden Eagle Adult Day Care Center in Flushing, New York. On February 17, UAC sent 200 love bags to The Allure Group in Brooklyn, New York. We appreciate the partnership with staff in the elderly care institutions who reached out to us.

In addition to love cards and love bags, UAC also organized an online concert for seniors. The concert incorporates the warm hearts of the children on the occasion of the New Year and the Spring Festival in 2021. We not only jointly launched the “Zoom Performance for Nursing Homes”, one of the UAC online concert series, with the four families of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Southbury CT, but also collected information from China and the United States through online recruitment. The Christmas performance video of 44 children from 33 families was edited and produced the second “UAC Holiday Gala” of the UAC online concert series. After that, we launched the third new year special of the UAC online concert series based on the performances of 41 children from Xinghai Art Center. The above concert series videos were delivered to the following elderly care institutions, giving the elderly a festive blessing and a rich audiovisual experience: 1) Cabrini Nursing Home; 2) Cliffside Rehabilitation & Residential Health Care Center; 3) Parker Jewish Institute For Health Care& Rehabilitation; 4) SprainBrook Manor Rehab

In the above-mentioned love package activities, UAC has received support from many organizations. I would like to thank Girl Scouts of Hudson, Troop 1686 & Troop 2429, Boy Scouts of Danbury, Troop 252, Cub Scouts Pack 24, Dobbs Ferry, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints-Primary, Danbury Chinese Alliance church for their support. Thanks to NY Heartland Organic Store (NY Heartland), New York Bodai Cafe (Bodai Cafe) and Yuanyuan Crystal House (New York Jewelry Company) for their sponsorship. Thanks to New Jersey Zexi Church, Xia Mei Dance Studio, Xinghai Art Center and other institutions for their loving support. Thank you North American Super Mom for participating in the joint promotion of UAC. I am especially grateful for the World Journal’s report on UAC on December 18, 2020, which allowed more benevolent people to understand us and join us in our activities. Finally, I am deeply grateful to the parents, children, donors, and volunteers who have always supported UAC charity activities. It is you who gave us great love, courage and support.

May we continue to walk hand in hand.
